Halloween at Home

Image
By the time our evening Halloween festivities began, I had been back and forth between Sam and Charlie's schools six or seven times (no joke), and had been doing the Halloween thing for 8 straight hours… Whew… one more event to go and we can call it a day! More mummy wraps before heading outside!   Sam was very good at being super silly still ...   Sam wanted to wear a scary costume this year… he was looking at the Scream mask and a bloody knife. Ummm… not a chance a buddy. So we compromised, and settled on a vampire.   These sweet baby blues could never be too scary, right?   I love how the creepy Shaggy beard lays overtop the vampire cape.   Of course Richie joined in the fun and rocked it out as this fabulous character. This is Matt Foley, Motivational Speaker (one of Chris Farley SNL characters). That's my boy! I think Sam and Charlie were just happy that they got to use the word "fat" for the evening. The word doesn't bo...

Fab 5's Halloween Party

Image
So this was my first time ever being the lead on a classroom holiday party. Thankfully, I've got an amazing friend who has many great ideas, and several classroom moms helping me out! I felt like the party was a success!  This is my sweet Shaggy who has waited and waited and waited for me to spend some time in his classroom. He was a happy little camper. Rachel dressed up as Spider Girl   Madeline went for the costume collage… I don't remember all the details, but it was something like tinkerbell, cinderella, and a unicorn.   Sweet Cate as Izzy the pirate   A little more Shaggy love    Adorable spider cupcakes Cate's mommy made   Then we moved on to the mummy wrap… Here is Emma   My favorite little mummy, Charlie   Charlie begged me to dress up… this was about as far as I could go… but I did have a tail with it!   Michael   Rachel   Jake   Emma and Rachel being sweet girls  ...

Kindergarten Career Day

Image
In place of the typical superhero costumes, Rocky Hill observes Halloween by having a Career Day for the Kindergarteners. Leading up to this event, they have a couple assignments and several discussions about the careers around them. In one of those assignments, Sam had to fill out an activity page describing what his mommy and daddy do, and also what he wants to do.  He did a great job describing Richie's job ~ "helps take care of sick people" … He was very clear on his own "I want to be a spy" … He needed a little (a lot) of help with mine. When I asked "What do you think mommy's job is?" "Umm… pay for the house? … pay bills? … clean the house?"  Strike Three! Let me help you with this one son. Anyway… we went with the James Bond kinda spy look, and it was quite a hit! The parents were all invited to attend the Career Day Parade, as the kids walked in and out of all the classrooms to show off their schtuff!    I love how the...

Mazes and Pumpkins and Hay Rides, Oh My!

Image
After Sam and I came home from his field trip talking about how much fun we had, Richie and Charlie wanted to have a go at it too. So we went back to Maple Lane Farms to enjoy another day.   The boys were on the hunt for the Great Pumpkin! We had to stop to get a snapshot of how much we've grown over the years. Look at my little Chuckles compared to the first time we visited this pumpkin patch. He was 10 months old in the picture on the left ~ almost 5 in the one on the right. (Obviously the one on the left was taken just before we took him to get his perm and blonde highlights!) And here's Sam at age 2 on the left and 6 on the right.   Amazing what happens to these little creatures over the years. Here, they were running in and out of the corn maze… to do it again and again and again!   It's always easy breezy getting the "silly face" shots!   The good smiles are a little more challenging!   This is Charlie's ...
