Sweet Sixteen


I forever stand by the belief that the best memories come from spur of the moment decisions... going with your gut... wanting something badly enough and just making it happen.  

Such was the situation when Richie and I decided to buy tickets and book a trip to NYC the moment UT beat Duke in the second round of playoffs during March Madness.  Heading to Madison Square Garden baby to see Tennessee in the Sweet Sixteen!

This fabulous decision of ours was made even sweeter when Michigan State beat Marquette later that evening!  Heading to Madison Square Garden baby to see both Tennessee and Michigan State play in the Sweet Sixteen!  


We headed up in the morning, made it just in time to have a drink and make our way to the games.  

First game was Michigan State vs Kansas State.  Second game was Tennessee vs Florida Atlantic.


The view from our seats was pretty spectacular.




Michigan State played a hell of a game... ended up going into overtime... but sadly lost 98-93 to Kansas State.

I believe Richie had been waiting for HOURS to remove the Michigan State gear (what a good sport he was though!)

He didn't even bother leaving his seat to make his wardrobe change 😂😂😂




UT unfortunately didn't even show up to play.. It was a pitiful loss to Florida Atlanta 62-55...

BUT, we still had the most fun!

As we started heading uptown from MSG to One Hotel Central Park, we never really found the right opportunity to jump into a taxi...  so we ended up just walking about a mile.  It was a beautiful night... the city was alive.. we passed fun people along the way... we ended up stopping at a rooftop bar, which was quite an experience.

They first wouldn't let us in because we weren't dressed properly (Riff Raff!!) but eventually the bouncer hollered for us to come back and said "go on in... I just let in a few others too"  (a few others?  like a few other trashy people?)  ðŸ˜‚


Long story short... we ended up paying nothing for our drinks, people just kept buying them for us.  They sent us out to a rooftop camera shoot where we couldn't stop laughing because of the insanity of all of it!



Where the hell are we? And how did we get here?!!  ðŸ˜‚😂



It was the most perfect overnight trip where we made some of the greatest memories in one of my most favorite cities with my most favorite person!

Wow! It's been a while.  Coming to this seat to reflect and write is always in the back of my mind, but sometimes it's just more complicated than others to actually get here. I have several significant events to share with you. Peak 8 and Carter Park

We geared up the next morning to enjoy a few more of the fun adventures Breckenridge has to offer.   We started with a gondola ride up to Peak 8 This gave us an opportunity to check out the ski slopes and helped convince me to take Sam and Charlie skiing...  Yikes!! (more to come on that)   Our kids are going to jump in a snow pile anywhere they can and start playing...   You know it's a good day when you're sitting beneath some blue skies 8,000 feet above sea level, having a drink and some lunch outside near a small fire, and watching people enjoy the gorgeous slopes of Colorado. Robbie's Tavern at Peak 8 ~ highly recommend! Onward to Carter Park to indulge in some sledding!   Can you even stand this smile? Charlie learns to swim!!!

It seems that there is a magical moment in every child's life where the concept of swimming just clicks. I remember Sam had his moment in the Renaissance Hotel overlooking Manhattan just before his 4th birthday. We had been driving for 11 hours straight, and he was so excited to get some energy out - he just started swimming all over the salt water pool.  Well, Charlie had his moment this past week in Orlando. While he was first a little angry that his mommy and daddy forgot his swim vest, he later become the happiest little boy in Florida!   Racing his big brother Great Job Charlie Hatcher!! So proud of my newest little fishy! Here are a few others of our day at the pool.
