Castles in the Sand

I've always loved that our boys will spend hours meticulously building elaborate sand castles at the beach.  They seem to get lost in thought while working the afternoon away...

The pictures might make you believe they are working together... but I'm pretty sure there are some turf wars going on as they each claim their own space in the sand... I mean, Luke would be happy to work with someone else on it - but that's not happenin'

These creepy little things... dragonflies...  apparently, they all go to Cape San Blas to die.  We noticed on day 2 an incredible number of dragon flies... all over, flying a bit aimlessly and landing wherever they may.  On day 3, an army of them were lying dead in the sand - and those that were still alive were pretty lethargic... Day 4, all gone.

Pretty irresistible...!





Miss Sara really loved getting to sit out on the beach with us... she'd bury her face in the sand and roll it all around. She loved chasing off all the sea birds!  She is quite the protector.

Wow! It's been a while.  Coming to this seat to reflect and write is always in the back of my mind, but sometimes it's just more complicated than others to actually get here. I have several significant events to share with you. Peak 8 and Carter Park

We geared up the next morning to enjoy a few more of the fun adventures Breckenridge has to offer.   We started with a gondola ride up to Peak 8 This gave us an opportunity to check out the ski slopes and helped convince me to take Sam and Charlie skiing...  Yikes!! (more to come on that)   Our kids are going to jump in a snow pile anywhere they can and start playing...   You know it's a good day when you're sitting beneath some blue skies 8,000 feet above sea level, having a drink and some lunch outside near a small fire, and watching people enjoy the gorgeous slopes of Colorado. Robbie's Tavern at Peak 8 ~ highly recommend! Onward to Carter Park to indulge in some sledding!   Can you even stand this smile? Charlie learns to swim!!!

It seems that there is a magical moment in every child's life where the concept of swimming just clicks. I remember Sam had his moment in the Renaissance Hotel overlooking Manhattan just before his 4th birthday. We had been driving for 11 hours straight, and he was so excited to get some energy out - he just started swimming all over the salt water pool.  Well, Charlie had his moment this past week in Orlando. While he was first a little angry that his mommy and daddy forgot his swim vest, he later become the happiest little boy in Florida!   Racing his big brother Great Job Charlie Hatcher!! So proud of my newest little fishy! Here are a few others of our day at the pool.
