Back to School 2019

 

2019 was a year of some big milestones! Our baby is now a KINDERGARTENER! Charlie is starting MIDDLE SCHOOL! And Sam is off to 7th grade.  Can't believe how big these boys are getting.
While Luke may look a bit skeptical in these pictures above, I assure you it has nothing to do with first day of school nerves.  He was cool as a cucumber starting off in kindergarten. I suppose that is one of the advantages of being the youngest...  been there, done that.  He was a bit irritated at me for pulling out the camera at the last minute - he was afraid he was going to be late.

Here is Luke with his sweet kindergarten teacher, Ms. Holmes.  She was a perfect fit for our confident, charismatic, assertive, dear child :)

Charlie was off to day one of Bearden Middle School. This came with a bit more anxiety - both for Charlie and his mama!  But we've survived it...

And Sam, ready to take on the world.  Sam wasn't a big fan of Bearden Middle his 6th grade year - I have high hopes this year will be better.



Always nice to have a life long friend to hang out with at the bus stop.

Wow! It's been a while.  Coming to this seat to reflect and write is always in the back of my mind, but sometimes it's just more complicated than others to actually get here. I have several significant events to share with you. I have pictures!! You must see! We've celebrated Charlie turning 5 (Oh my Lord! His world has changed!) We had our family Christmas time. We've had SNOW! We went skiing. Life keeps happening. I photograph it when I can. And I come here when it's time. Tom Sawyer's Island

Another highlight of our day at Magic Kingdom was taking the wooden log pontoon boat over to Tom Sawyer's Island. Not only did it bring back some great memories for me from the third grade in Mrs. Labadie's class - but it also proved to be an excellent photo op of my dear pleaser-son, Sam.  Between the low light of late afternoon, the reflection of the water, and Sam's love for making his mommy happy… these turned out to be my favorite photos of the trip  (favorite photos from a photographer's perspective… not necessarily from a mommy tourist perspective!) I know this appears washed out from the lighting… but I like the soft look of it ~ and I think his face is precious here.   I heart his sweet smile, and his eyes...   Here is another somewhat washed out… but again makes for a soft, sweet picture And, yes, Charlie joined us on Tom Sawyers Island… He's just not into doing the "how can I make my mommy happy" thing. Mornings on the Patio

On my days off from work, we've been taking advantage of this great weather and our shaded backyard by enjoying breakfast outside. It typically leads to some small adventures on the patio. On this particular day, the boys got into bubbles and cars.   Sam was mastering the art of recycling bubbles by blowing, catching, and recreating.   He was getting pretty good at it by the time the morning winded down ~   Meanwhile, Charlie was intently focused on fixing this car...   he had the tongue out and all!
