Winter Photo Shoot

 It occurred to me mid-December that I wasn't ready for Christmas cards... and despite the fact that I've taken hundreds of pictures of my kids this year, I still didn't have "the one" (silly, I know!)

 Just about that time, we got a random snowfall one Sunday morning, making for a perfect Christmas card backdrop.
 So, my sweet boys did what their crazy mom requested and went out into the freezing cold ~ with no coats ~ and brought their most beautiful smiles.  
We all have our own shade of crazy within us, right?
Sam, Charlie, and Luke have learned that capturing photos happens to be one of my shades...


 The sweet pictures hide the justified complaints that were coming out of their mouths...   My gosh I love these boys!  :)





They eventually had enough of the smiles and photos... so we stayed a little longer so they could play in the snow!  You can't pass up even a light dusting of snow when you live in the south. 

 You go out and build a snowman...
 Even if it's mostly made up of leaves... you just do it!





I was feeling a little extra generous and even let them put on some winter gear...  I know, right?!  My kindness knows no end!




These smiles couldn't ALL be forced and fake... I think they kinda loved it too!  :)

Wow! It's been a while.  Coming to this seat to reflect and write is always in the back of my mind, but sometimes it's just more complicated than others to actually get here. I have several significant events to share with you. Peak 8 and Carter Park

We geared up the next morning to enjoy a few more of the fun adventures Breckenridge has to offer.   We started with a gondola ride up to Peak 8 This gave us an opportunity to check out the ski slopes and helped convince me to take Sam and Charlie skiing...  Yikes!! (more to come on that)   Our kids are going to jump in a snow pile anywhere they can and start playing...   You know it's a good day when you're sitting beneath some blue skies 8,000 feet above sea level, having a drink and some lunch outside near a small fire, and watching people enjoy the gorgeous slopes of Colorado. Robbie's Tavern at Peak 8 ~ highly recommend! Onward to Carter Park to indulge in some sledding!   Can you even stand this smile? Charlie learns to swim!!!

It seems that there is a magical moment in every child's life where the concept of swimming just clicks. I remember Sam had his moment in the Renaissance Hotel overlooking Manhattan just before his 4th birthday. We had been driving for 11 hours straight, and he was so excited to get some energy out - he just started swimming all over the salt water pool.  Well, Charlie had his moment this past week in Orlando. While he was first a little angry that his mommy and daddy forgot his swim vest, he later become the happiest little boy in Florida!   Racing his big brother Great Job Charlie Hatcher!! So proud of my newest little fishy! Here are a few others of our day at the pool.
