Reflecting on Rosemary

We have spent the past 5 or more years down at Rosemary Beach for fall break.  October is without a doubt the best time of year to be at the beach... and we have a hard time resisting the white powder sand of the Gulf Coast combined with the charm of Rosemary.

This year (2018), we didn't go... we didn't really even talk about going...
But I've certainly been thinking about it all week long as the area has been devastated by Hurricane Michael. He hit land at the same time we would have otherwise been there...
Last year, a tropical storm plowed through the area the night we arrived.
It didn't create any devastation - just some crazy winds and rain for the night - and several days of big waves.
This is not the typical water and wave scene on the Gulf Coast.
The boys took full advantage of it!

Us Hatchers and our blue gum... :)   I have years of pictures of my kids and blue gum.
Freckles and eyelashes...  they get me every time.

You can see, day by day, the water grew calmer...

Until this... the typical calm, bathwater scene we are used to.
The change in weather and waves made for a fun week since each day at the beach brought a completely different experience.

I know, right?!  Goggles make for some great pictures.
Was pretty proud to find Luke (who turned 4 on this trip) writing all of his letters with a shovel...
No trip to Rosemary would be complete without a trip to Le Crema, one of our faves, for some Paella and ridiculously amazing chocolate lava deliciousness....

And many walks along the boardwalk down to the beach...

And bike riding... one of our most favorite parts of our Rosemary trips...

And then, finally, mommy torturing her sons with a photo shoot... me and my big girl camera can't help ourselves...

Thanks so treating us so well Rosemary...  recover safely. 💕
