Isle of Escape

Then there are those moments when you decide you just need to tell life (or work) to screw it and escape to the beach...
Such was the scene last November right before Thanksgiving.
I was highly frustrated at work. I was insulted, offended, irritated, and overworked... I reached a breaking point... and needed to be irresponsible and in control... So I decided to take the next couple days off... and we spontaneously spent Thanksgiving in the Isle of Palms.
We found a charming little cottage... with a lovely patio... and we found peace in the salt, sand, fresh air, and each other...  and I let go of work... and all was right in the world.. even if only for a moment.

By this time, the Atlantic Ocean was a little too cold for this body to enjoy, but the sun, sand, and refreshing breeze still did it's job..... Exhale...

Kids are nothing short of crazy in cold water...!

We drove to Charleston one afternoon and indulged in all the city has to offer, including its spectacular cuisine.  I truly love this part of our country.

(note: I'm really not big into selfies... but typically it's the only proof I have that I actually join my family on these adventures!)

I found my center for a few days... and I got to me with the people I love the most.
