Norris Lake

Once upon a time, there was a little girl who grew up making the greatest of memories on a pontoon boat in the summertime on Norris Lake...
It seems it is a natural tendency for us parents to try to recreate the happy memories of our own childhood and live them again through our kids


 I was fortunate enough to have that opportunity this summer 
 I have countless memories of being on a pontoon boat with my aunts, uncles, and cousins on the beautiful Norris Lake... in fact, if I was asked to list my top 3 childhood memories, this would make the list...
 It was pure joy watching my kids enjoy in the same experience



There were smiles and laughter the whole day through..




And I was perfectly present while also reflecting on the many weekend days on this beautiful lake decades ago that were so influential and formative in my life






It's comforting to see that some things can stay the same, completely untouched, generation after generation...

Wow! It's been a while.  Coming to this seat to reflect and write is always in the back of my mind, but sometimes it's just more complicated than others to actually get here. I have several significant events to share with you. I have pictures!! You must see! We've celebrated Charlie turning 5 (Oh my Lord! His world has changed!) We had our family Christmas time. We've had SNOW! We went skiing. Life keeps happening. Peak 8 and Carter Park

We geared up the next morning to enjoy a few more of the fun adventures Breckenridge has to offer.   We started with a gondola ride up to Peak 8 This gave us an opportunity to check out the ski slopes and helped convince me to take Sam and Charlie skiing...  Yikes!! (more to come on that)   Our kids are going to jump in a snow pile anywhere they can and start playing...   You know it's a good day when you're sitting beneath some blue skies 8,000 feet above sea level, having a drink and some lunch outside near a small fire, and watching people enjoy the gorgeous slopes of Colorado. Robbie's Tavern at Peak 8 ~ highly recommend! Onward to Carter Park to indulge in some sledding!   Can you even stand this smile? Charlie learns to swim!!!

It seems that there is a magical moment in every child's life where the concept of swimming just clicks. I remember Sam had his moment in the Renaissance Hotel overlooking Manhattan just before his 4th birthday. We had been driving for 11 hours straight, and he was so excited to get some energy out - he just started swimming all over the salt water pool.  Well, Charlie had his moment this past week in Orlando. While he was first a little angry that his mommy and daddy forgot his swim vest, he later become the happiest little boy in Florida!   Racing his big brother Great Job Charlie Hatcher!! So proud of my newest little fishy! Here are a few others of our day at the pool.
