Spontaneous Happiness

I recently had one of the grandest trips and experiences of my whole life. It was a bucket list type of experience… I flew out to Colorado to meet up with my girl (Brandy) and spent 3 spectacular days in and between Boulder and the outskirts of Denver eating, drinking, hiking, talking, laughing, shopping, and listening to great music. The bucket list part of it was seeing a show (actually two shows) at Red Rocks Amphitheater.
Red Rocks is a natural amphitheater that sits in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Picture the most gorgeous mountainous scene you can think of... seat yourself in the middle of it… and then imagine the sounds and energy of watching and listening to your most favorite music echoing through the air. It is absolutely surreal. Everyone who likes music, even just a little bit, should make it a priority to have this experience. You start off in the daylight and watch it slowly fade to night. The distant city lights of Denver dance across the horizon, while the stars glisten above you. The scene and the energy is something that you could never replicate.
We saw Brandi Carlile on Saturday night and Alabama Shakes on Sunday night. It's difficult to find words to describe the experience.  Truly.

We spent our first full day in Cherry Creek, a lovely shopping/restaurant district outside of Denver. For me, the highlight of that experience was finding True Food - this unbelievable restaurant with the freshest, most creative and delicious menu I may have ever seen… and their drinks… oh my goodness. My favorite was "Spontaneous Happiness" - vanilla and ginger infused TyKu Shochu, St. Germain & lime… I don't really know what any of that means, except that it was heaven on rocks. I had two or three of them… before noon :-/ And then we went back for dinner.
We began our second full day with a 10 mile hike in the Flatirons just outside Boulder. Such beautiful scenery all around us. We were kind of expecting to be hiking up into the mountains… but actually ended up in fields in the foothills of the mountains.  And in the end, there were cows.. on our trail..
They were nice to us. So that was good.

Then we drove over to Boulder. What a fabulous place that is. We spent most of our time at the Pearl Street Mall. Picture Market Square, but like 6 of them - and with even better food and better shopping. Boulder has a really great vibe - it's beautiful and clean, a great amount of hippy, without being crazy. I would move there in a heartbeat.
I mean anyplace that has shoes this fabulous is a place I would love to live!

What a treat it was to spend almost 3 full days with my girl in a spectacular place with the perfect mix of everything we love.
Can't wait for our next get-away...
