Project 52/4 - Bokeh

I had a rather sad showing in week 4 of my Project 52. Such a shame too because this particular topic happens to be the whole reason I originally fell in love with photography. 
Bokeh ~ The gorgeous blur that becomes of the non-focused part of your photograph, particular when you have a shallow depth of field. 

I took a lot of pictures this week, but never really got that million dollar, bubbly shot that makes my heart skip a beat.

So this is the picture I used for my project

I guess that's probably called cheating... and defeats the whole purpose of participating in a project focused on improving my skills when I use old pictures ~ but whatever! I'm a busy girl. I've got kids to feed. 
Next weeks topic is Best Friends… hmmm ~

Wow! It's been a while.  Coming to this seat to reflect and write is always in the back of my mind, but sometimes it's just more complicated than others to actually get here. I have several significant events to share with you. Peak 8 and Carter Park

We geared up the next morning to enjoy a few more of the fun adventures Breckenridge has to offer.   We started with a gondola ride up to Peak 8 This gave us an opportunity to check out the ski slopes and helped convince me to take Sam and Charlie skiing...  Yikes!! (more to come on that)   Our kids are going to jump in a snow pile anywhere they can and start playing...   You know it's a good day when you're sitting beneath some blue skies 8,000 feet above sea level, having a drink and some lunch outside near a small fire, and watching people enjoy the gorgeous slopes of Colorado. Robbie's Tavern at Peak 8 ~ highly recommend! Onward to Carter Park to indulge in some sledding!   Can you even stand this smile? Charlie learns to swim!!!

It seems that there is a magical moment in every child's life where the concept of swimming just clicks. I remember Sam had his moment in the Renaissance Hotel overlooking Manhattan just before his 4th birthday. We had been driving for 11 hours straight, and he was so excited to get some energy out - he just started swimming all over the salt water pool.  Well, Charlie had his moment this past week in Orlando. While he was first a little angry that his mommy and daddy forgot his swim vest, he later become the happiest little boy in Florida!   Racing his big brother Great Job Charlie Hatcher!! So proud of my newest little fishy! Here are a few others of our day at the pool.
