Birthday Extravaganza

So, as if we didn't celebrate Sam's 5th birthday enough last weekend, we had his real birthday party this past Sunday. It was quite an event! Complete with two inflatable water slides, a Superman cupcake cake, neighbors, friends, family… essentially an entire cul-de-sac full of people enjoying an end of summer extravaganza!

I think it is safe to say that great fun was had by all!

We've actually hosted this same party for Sam's birthday for 3 years in a row now…
And the fun never seems to fade...
I saw smiles like this from start to finish by all the party goers
I also saw this face a couple hundred times by all the party goers
(goers… is that real word?   … go ers … go'ers … goers… hmm… I bet you were thinking the same thing)
This slide even has a quick turn on it that then dumps you into a pool of water

And it goes "reo-yee, reo-yee, reo-yee fast!"
Actually they both went reo-yee, reo-yee fast!
Here's Lilly - it was her birthday party too!
And this is Sam and Charlie's sweet friend Amelia playing with the water ball
And gorgeous Baby Hayes… He makes me want to go make another baby. Right. Now.
Then I remember what babies look like at 2am, 3am, and 4am. And the feeling passes.

Oh my gosh. Can you even stand this one? This is Sam's AdOrAbLe friend, Sara, from preschool. She and Sam love each other.

Getting ready for his birthday cake. His other sweet, adorable friend, Mallory, from preschool.
Uh… Charlie?  Really?

Make a wish buddy!
And then go ahead and eat your cupcake in a single bite..
There you go. Good job.
Five year olds are great listeners!
Sam's friend, Eric, preferred to start with the frosting
My friend, Tom, with his daughter, Amelia… all tatted up!
Smile pretty for the camera, Rachel!
Our friend, Hayden, gobbling up his cake
Okay, so I don't know what it is about this picture, but it makes me belly laugh every time I see it! Maybe it's the fact that Rachel looks drunk and Charlie looks like he's just realized he's going to have a long night ahead of him trying to take care of her… I don't know. Maybe I'm just making that up. Regardless, something about it cracks me so up!
There we go… that's my sober babies!
Couldn't resist showing another one of this pretty girl...
Sweet baby Hayes and his daddy
Sam and his buddy, Jack, getting ready to race down the slide
Charlie is officially freezing at this point!
And one final shot of by big birthday boy...
… AND his awesome tooth!
Happy Happy Birthday Buddy… until next year!
