Dodgers Baseball

Image
Well, Sam just wrapped up another great season of baseball! He played for the Dodgers this season with the same group of kids he has played with the past two years.   It has been a very fun season! We are slowly progressing into a more competitive league where everyone is beginning to develop real baseball skills. But we're still young enough to have plenty of space for silly mistakes, silly time, and of course, silly bands!   Sam officially became a left-handed hitter this season.    It took us a little while to figure out which way he was going to go. In fact, last season, he hit right-handed… spring and fall.    I have been very excited to see Sam find his comfort zone with his swing. He looks like a real baseball player! I know I've overused this phrase in this space, but I really can't believe how big he is getting.  He was very excited about this hit today! We practiced for quite a while yesterday, so I think it made hi...

Peas and Carrots

Do you have one of those friends who you always want right beside you, even when there are yots and yots of other people around?   Well, that's how I feel when me and Yuke play baseball. We can both run really really fast to first base!   We get kinda silly in the dugout… cuz really, what else are you supposed to do?    We even get to run next to each other around the bases. Sometimes we like to cool off in the shade and reflect on how the game went... We'll even lend a shoulder when needed... Nothing else really matters when you've got your best buddy by your side.   Me and Yuke are just yike peas and carrots ...

Imagination Movers

"Everybody shout what's the big idea 'Hey! What's the big idea?' Imagination Movers are music to your ears. What? We're music to your ears!" Unless you have a kid under the age of 8, you certainly have no idea what I'm talking about … and even then, you still may not know. The Imagination Movers were here in Knoxville performing at the Tennessee Theater. They are a kids rock band and they have their own show on Disney. Their show is all about brainstorming and problem solving. What could be better than that, right?   Of course, with the show being downtown, we stopped and had some lunch at Tomato Head (had to sprinkle in a treat for mommy too!)… then we walked through Krutch Park to get to our destination (which is where the photo above was taken).   They did a great job entertaining the kids… all four band members walked through the crowd multiple times, which was very exciting for the adoring fans.   In the middle of his performance, Dave...

Wastin' Some Time

Image
With Richie working every other weekend, Sam, Charlie and I find ourselves getting into all sortsa silly stuff to keep ourselves occupied!    On this particular day, we decided to venture downtown to ride bikes and play in the fountains.   Now that they have turned into big boys, we have graduated from the smaller fountains in Market Square over to the giant fountains at the World's Fair Park.   Nothin' quite like keepin' real in some neon goggles and a matching bike helmet! So far we are loving these lazy summer days!

Popsicles in the Sun

What could possibly be better than a bunch of crazy, 4-year olds indulging in a popsicle on a hot summer day?

Memorial Day

A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.  ~Joseph Campbell Cover them over with beautiful flowers, Deck them with garlands, those brothers of ours, Lying so silent by night and by day Sleeping the years of their manhood away. Give them the meed they have won in the past; Give them the honors their future forcast; Give them the chaplets they won in the strife; Give them the laurels they lost with their life. ~Will Carleton
