Happily Ever After

Image
Well, you've probably already heard the news. It's really all people are talking about lately! You know… the wedding? The Letters Q and U finally decided to get hitched! Mr. Q realized he just couldn't survive without her. So their life has officially begun...   The ceremony took place at St. Marks United Methodist Church here in Knoxville. In fact, the Fab 5's class was responsible for making it all happen.   Each Mr. Q, one-by-one, walked his lovely Miss U down the aisle to say their vows.   This little pair happened to be my personal favorite ~   The beautiful ladies proudly carried their orange, pink, and yellow crepe paper bouquets, while handmade veils adorned their exquisite dresses... and the boys proudly stood by in their handsome attire waiting to say "I do"   Pastor Dave lead the ceremony and graciously announced the union of Mr. Q & Miss U ~ May you live happily ever after! Charlie's class was able to ...

In Loving Memory

Donald Rae Leggett April 23, 1923 - April 24, 2012 My Grandpa Don passed away this week after a very long year of managing his declining health. He had just turned 89 years old the day prior, and had a healthy, happy birthday from what I've been told. He shared many smiles with his kids that day, and was very conversational and alert. That makes me smile. The day following his 89th birthday, he was saluted, celebrated, and blessed by 23 family members as he took his final breath and entered the kingdom of heaven… actually, as he walked into the kingdom of heaven… walked for the first time in 22 years. That is certainly something to celebrate. It has been an emotional week ~ and a rather special week. I have a very large family, the majority of whom live right here in Knoxville. There have been hundreds of tears, embraces, stories, and sorrows shared as we have all reflected on my grandfather's life. A World War II Veteran who fought at Normandy and the Battle of th...

Egg Drop

Image
Today was the annual egg drop for Sam's Fab 5’s class. What an egg-citing day it was! The rules were to put a raw egg inside a container that is no larger than 7” x 7” x 7” and cushion it or control it in some way to ensure it doesn’t crack when dropped from a second story window.  We tried a couple different designs… water balloons (we actually forced an egg inside a water balloon… slightly awkward!), balloons filled with air, and then finally resorted to just cushioning the egg with colorful, stringy, bouncy balls. The parents were all invited to attend this event. It was adorable seeing all the 5 year olds shrill with excitement when their parent(s) showed up. I cherish that. I know we won’t be that cool forever. (well, maybe Aidan wasn't shrilling with excitement… he's on the bottom left) Sam’s egg was the first to be dropped… Here it goes... Weeeeeee!   Now the results… Success!! Protected bea...

He and Charlie are playing for the Cardinals.   Jack and Lisa Forester ~ Love these four little monkeys   Good listeners!   Time to get silly!   Ahhhh! So much fun! Another post coming soon with a few of the game highlights.

A Different Light

"See every difficulty as a challenge, a stepping stone,  and never be defeated by  anything or anyone" ~ Eileen Caddy What a week it has been.  What a year it has been.  Actually, what a couple of years it has been.  I try not to dwell on it too much, especially here… in my space. My happy space. My space of journaling, of reflecting, of sharing what I am and who I am and capturing the amazing blessings that make up my life.  However, when it comes to sharing, above all else, I demand of myself and others, who I embrace into my little world, that we keep it real. I'm a bit finicky in that respect. I shut down immediately when I'm in the presence of someone who is not genuine, or is too proud or protective of her faults that she mimics a false reality. And I hate to shut down. I'm really bad at idle chit-chat, so when I've shut down, I've really got nothing else to give. I stumble. I go silent. When I reflect back on the past ye...
